My Homeschool Journey
My name is Stacie, I am the creator of Homeschool Hobbies. I was inspired to start this blog to help other parents find hobbies and activities that their kids can enjoy and learn from.
I love homeschooling my seven children and want to provide homeschool help tips and encouragement for parents who are just starting their homeschooling journey, those who have been homeschooling for years, and everyone in between who needs motivation and fortification.
Our Homeschooling Journey
Our homeschooling journey began when my oldest child was 5. He has a September birthday and missed the kindergarten cutoff in Kansas by a few days. That year, God put several faith-filled, intelligent and interesting families in my life. They had a commonality- they all homeschooled their children. I was already concerned about my bright and energetic child sitting in a classroom for so many hours the following year. I was also worried about our family being split up for most of the day. My husband and I decided to give homeschooling a whirl.
Finding Our Own Stride
Our family grew, and grew, and grew. When we had 4 boys, we moved from the suburbs to a small farm in a rural area. My boys, and the three siblings that came after our move, have thrived. Our family consists of 5 sons and 2 daughters.
Homeschooling and country living has provided my family with the opportunities to explore so many different hobbies and activities. The kids do play some organized sports, but I have found that they really learn and flourish in their own interests. They are self-motivated learners and that skill spills over into all areas of their lives.
The Homeschool Hobby Mission
I hope to teach other moms to be confident in their ability to homeschool and to encourage them to give their kids the freedom to explore many interests. I believe that homeschooling offers the unique opportunity to really dive deep in a hobby, without influence from peers who might not understand. God created us all different and there are so many new things to learn and do in this world. I want to help moms and kids find interests that excite them and help them grow into who God has meant them to be!
I am looking forward to sharing hobby ideas, homeschooling tips and fun stories of big family farm living with you.
